Shop 'til our Babies Drop!

Melly and I took our kids up to Park City to do a little school-clothes-shopping for Blayke. The shopping spree was an overall success with only a few minor glitches! Both of the babies wouldn't eat, Daxon only ran over an insignificant number of people with the stroller, road work got in the way of our eagerness to get home, and the kids had reached their limits before we got to go to all the shops we wanted to, but Blayke made out with a ton of clothes! Although we were on this excursion no longer than 4 hours, Mel and I felt like an entire weekend had past since we left Provo that morning! Doing anything with kids sure wears one out! Would we do it again? Heck yes!!

HAPPY CAMPERS!

We went camping last weekend with Jon's parents at Lodge Pole Campground. It was a lot colder than we had expected, but it was still nice to be up there. We have been meaning to go camping a lot this summer, but as always life gets in the way of plans - so it was nice to finally have gone. Our next trip camping I will bring more warm clothing as it seems to be getting colder...is it nearly Fall already???!!!

A Day at Lagoon!

Because our family didn't get to take a summer vacation this year, we decided to have some fun somewhere around home. Our destination was Lagoon!! We had a great time together. We started out the day at Logoon-A-Beach. Daxon loved the kiddie water slides. Zayla fell asleep on my shoulder... and Jon and Blayke had fun on some of the big water slides. We then went out into the park to take in some rides. Blayke is in the best position because she is still small enough to take Daxon on the kid rides, and big enough to go on the big rides with me or Jon. (Notice the photo of Blayke and Daxon on the Kiddie-Coaster...Dax has a half hysterical look on his face!) Blayke decided before we left home that she was going to try to go on the Colossas. A ride that has up until now scared her silly. I got to be the one to take her on her first up-side-down-screaming-adventure. She wasn't sure what hit her, but was VERY proud when it was over! Overall, taking small children to any theme-park results in cutting things short to accomodate their tiny schedules. We didn't stay as long as Blayke would have liked, but the day wore us out just as well!

"Screw being a Princess, I want to be a Vampire!"

...The wait is over! Breaking Dawn is out and I went to the release party at Borders Books. It was so fun until about 1:00 am...but we'll get to that later. My friend, Beulah (she is no longer the boss of me...) and I, and her daughter and friends got there about 10:00 pm. We enjoyed some tasty beverages, entered the raffle, watched the "Twilight" movie trailer, which I have decided I will have to see - just out of pure curiosity, not expecting that in anyway will it be as good as the book - we also enjoyed the comraderie of 1200 other fans eagerly displaying their loyalties to either Edward (!) or Jacob. This being done mostly by creative T-Shirts (such as you see in my photos), or by the brave who dressed up. It was so fun to be with all those people who were there for the same purpose as me, and were totally eager to express their excitement.

So at 11:30, they kicked everyone out of the store except for the poeple who's wrist bands were numbered 1 - 200. We all waited outside in our numerical lines of 200 and listened to the live music. At midnight everyone started screaming and cheering...and still we waited. At 12:30 a.m. the line of people with numbers 400-600 were taken into the store to buy their books. At 1:00 a.m., line #601-800 still had not been taken into the store. That meant that I had at least 300 more people in front of me because I was number 897! So I left without a book! The buzz had worn off, and all I wanted was sleep! The next morning during my first feeding session with Zayla (which is when I get all my reading done), I was sad that I didn't have the book. But I raced to Wal-Mart within the hour and purchased it there for much cheaper than I would have at Borders! It was a fun evening, and I am glad I went. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a saga to finish!!

BAD MOOD GONE SOFT

So I have been in a bad mood pretty much all day. You could say I got up on the wrong side of the bed...anyway, when I get like this my poor son gets the brunt of my bad mood. (Zayla is too little to care, and Jon is at work!) My negative mood really gets heightened after about 794,867 times of hearing the word "Mommy!" shouted, (just an estimate), and my automatic answer of "What babe?", and then...silence. Most days I it doesn't phase me, and I usually end up laughing about it. (Although it is nice when Jon gets home and it turns to "Daddy!") But today, it got to me. "Mommy!" Daxon shouts again and asks me if he could have a "hop-icle" (popcicle, or in our case, knock-off Otter Pops!). I told him he had to eat it outside. "Mommy!" He wants to eat it out front. I dont' usually let him venture into the front yard unless an adult is with him, so when I consented just to get him outside, he was excited. I told him to sit in the shade of the tree. A few minutes later I looked outside and saw my sweet boy sitting (in the sun) by himself eating his popcicle. It broke my heart. What was I doing that was so important I couldn't go out and sit with him? I grabbed my camera so I could remind myself of this feeling, and went outside to relish the time with my toddler. We moved to the shade.
